Emotions No. 1 by Alfredo S. Buenaventura

Emotions No. 1 is the first of two piano pieces in Alfredo Buenaventura’s “Emotions” set. You may notice online that Scribd.com mentions a piece called “Emotions No. 3” by Buenaventura — this is an errror. There are only two. Here is a recording filmed in 2010, and since Buenaventura’s music is generally unpublished in the US or otherwise unavailable, the score came from the composer via PDF.

Alfredo S. Buenaventura Biography

Buenaventura was born in Santa Maria, Bulacan in the Philippines in 1929 — his birth came during the United State’s colonial jurisdiction over the Philippines that followed the Spanish-American War (the Philippines achieved independence in 1935.

Most recently, he was the Dean of Music at Centro Escolar University in Manila, and prior to that appointment, he taught at the Philippine Women’s University and St. Scholastica’s College. He is also an accomplished organist and conductor.

Bueaventura still resides in the Philippines in Quezon City (as of 11/16/2019).
